Birth Traumas: What Women Need to Know, Especially Before Giving Birth
What do you know about your birth story? I’m not talking about you giving birth to your kids (I’ll get to that). I’m talking about when YOU were born. Was it easy? Were there any complications? Have you ever asked?
A lot of us don’t know much about our birth story, and there are a number of reasons for that story not being passed down with much detail. One of the more simple reasons is that moms are often medicated (or, alternately, riding the waves of their own pleasure hormones) during labor and childbirth, so certain details don’t even get processed cognitively the way they otherwise would. They just get archived in the body.
Another reason, there’s an amnesia that birth pros speak of. One round of it tends to encompass childbirth itself, while the next wave of “amnesia” covers the first many months of altered-state-mommy-zone. In other words, unless something really tough happened, your mom may have forgotten about it (or decided there was no good reason to mention it) once it was over.
But your own birth is hugely important to pay attention to, especially as it relates to:
• Your sex life & body image
• Money & creative energy in your life
• The foundation for pain, pleasure, and/or stress in your body
• How conception/pregnancy/birth goes for you when you’re ready to have kids - if you haven’t already
• How conception/pregnancy/birth goes for your kids when the time comes for them.
You might be interested in this topic because you want to get pregnant soon, and you want to make your journey into motherhood as easy as possible. We’re going to discuss how to connect some of those dots.
If you already have kids, this is still relevant for you, too. First, there’s a connection between birth trauma and sex that is really helpful to understand. Sex, money, pleasure and creativity are all more interconnected than you may realize. So looking at this ignored piece of the “Body” puzzle can make a huge difference in all of those arenas - simultaneously. Pretty sweet, huh?
Plus, here’s another bonus. As far as your kids go, if you want to you can do some healing on their behalf NOW that will make their journey into parenthood much easier when the time comes for that later.
Please join me on this call. I’d love to share more about what birth trauma is, why it’s important to discuss, and how to heal it.
